THE WORD OF GOD ENDURES FOREVER

04_12

“The grass withers and the flowers fail, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Isaiah 40:8

The Word is Spirit and invisible. Out of the spiritual comes the physical. This only happens by the authority of the Word of God. God has always sought to convince men using many different means of speaking to them in order to remind them of their limited capacity alongside His Divine Majesty. He speaks through creation, like the Psalmist shares, “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4a).

Since the beginning of time, without even making a sound, the Lord has been preaching to us through his Word. No one can maintain a deaf ear to His voice for long. God speaks to us through His creative, perfect, generous and eternal creation.

Let’s think for a moment about all the different plants, about the domestic and wild animals and the beautiful birds of every color. How could any one being have created such perfection? However, this line of thinking leads to corruption in the mind of a man and his intellect. A man commits the greatest act of foolishness when he pretends to be completely oblivious to the precision behind the brilliant mind that planned and executed creation. The Psalmist refers to this by saying, “The fool says in his heart, ‘there is no God’” (Psalm 14:1a). However, creation is a clear reflection of the authority of God’s Word. The writer to the Hebrews begins his epistle by saying, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in the last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe” (Hebrews 1:2).

Thanks to the humble and holy men who wrote it, the entire Bible was inspired by faith. It was through their lives that we received the revelation of the Word of God. These men knew that what they were writing would become a spiritual guide for every generation to come. If we removed the word, “faith” from the Bible, it would have no value whatsoever. What makes this book different from every other book is the presence of faith. The complete personality of God has been manifested through the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is God’s Word made flesh. This is why John said, “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind” (John 1:4).

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Many years ago, the famous atheist Voltaire claimed that within a hundred years, “not even one copy of the Bible would be found in men’s hands.” For many years the Geneva Bible Society has used the same printing press that Voltaire used for his books, one of which printed his aforementioned prophecy. Today the Bible is available throughout the entire world, with an estimated 400,000,000 copies in circulation. Homes in the civilized world without a copy are a rare exception. The book of God, in full or in part, has been translated into more than 1.000 languages and dialects, so that now every nation under heaven can know the Love of God in Christ.
