TO SEE IS TO OWN

A Devotional by Pastor Cesar Castellanos

Today’s Bible Verse

“The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.”

Genesis 13:14-15

To See is to Own

When Abraham parted from his nephew Lot, he looked up and was able to see all that God had for his descendants. Lot represents those who look at the circumstances, whereas Abraham represents those who see the promises of God. Our natural sight helps us to relate with this world, but our faith helps us to see in the spiritual realm.

Jesus said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness…” (Matthew 6:22-23 NIV). God gave you spiritual eyes to see into His Kingdom, but you have to exercise this spiritual vision. Your natural sight will try to darken your spiritual vision but the Lord has given you the ability to see into the heavenly realm. God is Spirit and it is only by faith that you will be able to see the things that belong to His spiritual Kingdom. It is here that you will first see the miracles, the physical healings, the family restoration and the development of the ministry that you need. One of the biggest problems that many Christians come up against is their inability to visualize things by faith. It is probably partly due to the circumstances that have clouded their spiritual sight.

The Lord made a promise to every one of us regarding our spiritual sight. He said, “Then you will look and be radiant…” (Isaiah 60:5a) If you cannot see, you will not shine, so logically, in order to shine first you have to be able to see. Once your spiritual eyes are open, you will see what God sees in the spiritual realm. Everything that He has for you is good, pleasant and perfect. The Lord can provide for all of your needs. This includes your spiritual, emotional, physical, family and ministry needs. The second part of this promise is also for you, “…your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth of the seas will be brought to you…” (Isaiah 60:5b).

Something to Think About

When I first started out in the ministry, I never used to devote any time to dream, mainly because my leaders had never taught me to do this. Later I was trying to understand why some churches remain small in number, and I realized that many leaders don’t believe they can grow beyond a certain point. They are limited by their logical thinking. However, one day God took me to a beach in Colombia and told me to look at the grains of sand on the shore. He told me that just like Abraham, my descendants would be as numerous as the sand on the shore. Believing what the Lord said, I began to see the multitudes rise up out of the sand. Every grain was transformed into a person, and I saw hundreds of thousands of people. When the Holy Spirit asked me, “What are you seeing?” My reply was, “I see hundreds of thousands of people.” And the Lord added, “This, and even more, I will give you, if you remain in My perfect will.”

Prayer

“Father God, give me the grace to be able to proclaim the power of Your Word with authority. Guide me to those with whom You want me to share my faith, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Declaration

“God will give me spiritual sight to see myself planting seeds of life in the hearts of people.”
