Today’s Memory Verse
[God’s] power is made perfect in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
Weakness Transformed Into Strength
Hey Kids!
Wasn’t it amazing when Jesus was here on earth! The people got to see great miracles like the blind could see, the people that were once crippled were walking and even running, thousands of people were fed with just 5 loaves and 3 fish and thousands and thousands received Jesus as their Lord and Savior!
And what was even more amazing the disciples of Jesus got to be with Him every day! They had it made! When they needed Jesus, He was right there with them!! Like when Peter got out of the boat to walk on water toward Jesus. But, when he saw the wind, he was afraid and he began to sink, and he called out to Jesus, “Lord, save me!” And right away Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.
Wow, don’t you want Jesus right by your side like Peter? Well, did you know that you got it better? You might be thinking, “Whaaat!!! How can it be better than having Jesus right next to me to help me every second of the day?”
After Jesus died on the Cross and He rose from the dead, Jesus was ready to go up to Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father, but He knew we needed help. So, He gave us a free gift, the Holy Spirit. FREE??? Yes, free and all we need to do is to accept this gift. When we receive the Holy Spirit, the power and the strength that Jesus had will come upon us. This power will transform our weaknesses to strengths. And guess what? The Holy Spirit will be with us all the time to help us in times of difficulty.
Do you have weaknesses that you are not happy or proud of? Maybe you are even ashamed that you have that weakness in your life. It makes you feel you are not good enough, strong enough, or smart enough. And so, you convince yourself it is better to keep it hidden away from God.
God urges us to bring all our weaknesses to Him, so that His power can rest upon us. When we let God in on our situation, the Holy Spirit will transform our weaknesses to strengths. And through the power of the Holy Spirit, you will conquer and win over the weakness in your life!
Let’s pray this prayer: Father I come to you in Jesus’ Name. Thank You for the free gift of the Holy Spirit. I receive and accept the Holy Spirit to come in my life. I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me my new heavenly language. I ask that Your power, fire, and strength rest on me and to transform my weaknesses to Your strength. Every day I will pray in my new heavenly language. Amen.
Pledge of Honor
I am a hero because Jesus changed my weakness into strength.
Today’s Bible Reading
2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 (AMPC)
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
MATTHEW 3:11 (ICB)
“I baptize you with water to show that your hearts and lives have changed. But there is one coming later who is greater than I am. I am not good enough to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
JOHN 14:26 (AMP)
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
Acts 2:1-4 (ICB)
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a noise came from heaven. It sounded like a strong wind blowing. This noise filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something that looked like flames of fire. The flames were separated and stood over each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak different languages. The Holy Spirit was giving them the power to speak these languages.
Acts 2:38-39 (ICB)
Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is for you. It is also for your children and for all who are far away. It is for everyone the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Acts 2:16-17 (ICB)
But Joel the prophet wrote about what is happening here today:
God says: In the last days
I will give my Spirit freely to all kinds of people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your old men will dream dreams.
Your young men will see visions.
