YOU ARE A MIRACLE IN MOTION

“…And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, ‘What do You seek?’ Or…’Why are You talking with her?’ The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, ‘Come see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?’”

John 4:27b-29

In John 4:1-42, a beautiful story is shared of a woman who had an encounter with Jesus at a well. There is so much to share about these verses; it is so rich in revelation, but we will focus on just a few.

Jesus needed to go through Samaria (v.4). I often wondered why Samaria, why her, why at that place? First, it was an unusual encounter because Jews were not to be associated with Samaritans. Second, Jesus was interacting with a woman which wasn’t allowed because of cultural restrictions. Third, the women of the village gathered together in the morning to draw water from the well. They used this time to catch up with the latest city news and enjoy each other’s company. But she was not allowed this privilege because of her past and present lifestyle (v. 15-18). She was considered an outcast, therefore she was not welcome and had to draw water alone.

But Jesus needed to display the power of restoration, redemption, and reconciliation to mankind through this woman. This was what she needed to fill the voids, the wounds and the pains in her life. He said to her, “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give them will NEVER thirst (for love, acceptance, attention, affirmation, forgiveness, security and healing) ever again!

This woman received her freedom in one encounter with Jesus. She then did three things. She LEFT her water pot (her past), she WENT into the city and SAID to the people, “I am miracle in motion!”

When we share the good news of “this Gospel” with our city (family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.), we become a “miracle in motion.” Let’s go to the well, encounter Jesus and become His “Miracle in Motion” today!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
The last 2-3 months have undoubtedly been challenging. The good news is that the church stood strong and continued to minister “this gospel” in truth, with authority, with boldness, power, healing and compassion. We’ve experienced powerful ministry from our services, Life Groups, community outreaches and discipleship. And we are the church, we are that miracle in motion.

Honestly, there were times when I found myself having to press in deeper with my faith, in my times of prayer, the Word, reaching out, and discipling others because honestly, I am not used to be “cooped up.” I love to be around people and “do” the work of the ministry with my feet to the ground. However, in a message a few weeks ago, Pastor Art said, “You are a miracle in motion.” I chose to take ownership of that and because of it I’ve been very blessed to open another Life Group with new women. Praise the Lord! (Pastor Donalee Pang)
